Summer is fast approaching and Memorial Day is a perfect oppurtunity to spend time with family and friends. Here is a great recipe to get you all in the mood for summer.
As Memorial Day nears, many of us begin to feel the excitement that summer is just around the corner. School is almost over, the days are getting longer, and the sun is ready to warm us for a long fun filled summer. Families and friends tend to gather on Memorial Day to observe the holiday, cherish memories of loved ones and to celebrate the beginning of summer fun.
This Memorial Day plan a get together with close family or friends and build some memories for all of you to remember. Instead of preparing the "normal" hamburgers and hot dogs that typically are prepared on Memorial Day, do something a little more fun and a little more daring. Here is recipe for jalapeño cheddar burgers that will be sure to heat up your guests and prepare them for summer heat waves.
Ingredients
- 1 lb of hamburger meat (ground)
- 1 lb of sausage meat (ground)
- 5 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce
- 4 tablespoons of hot sauce (like Tapatio)
- 5 fresh jalapenos (cored, seeded and diced)
- 1 lb of crumbled cheddar cheese
- Salt and Pepper
- Onion or Whole Wheat Buns for Burgers
Directions
- In a large bowl, thoroughly mix the hamburger meat and the ground sausage meat together.
- Add Worstershire sauce, hot sauce, jalapenos and plenty of salt and pepper and mix together.
- Begin to form patties. In the center of the patty, place a handful of the crumbled cheddar cheese and add more meat on the top of the patty in order that the cheese does not “leak” when cooking the patty. The meat should completely surround the cheese.
- After all the patties are made, put them in the refrigerator for at least a half an hour. (Depending upon how thick/thin or large/small you make the patties, this recipe should accommodate between 8 to 12 people).
- Start up the grill and let the burgers sizzle until they are done (preferably medium to medium well).

It is really important that your provide a number of different toppings for your guests as so many people have many different tastes and preferences for the top of their burgers.
